“Britain is strongly opposed to the change, because it would mean Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) would lose its status as the zone where local time is the same as the universal time by which clocks are set.It would cause legal headaches for the nation as well because GMT has been enshrined in law since 1880 as the standard time.
Cutting clocks off from the sun would also cause problems for astronomers, who would need to make expensive changes to operating software of astronomical telescopes.
However, the proposed change is supported by the U.S, France, Germany, Russia, Japan and Italy.
Next year, member states of the ITU are due to vote on the proposal. If 70 per cent support the idea, an official decision will be made at the world Radio Conference in 2011.”
It makes no difference on the light coming into a telescope, the only light that is seen is visible light, and the more light the telescope gathers the better the vied, and objects much further away can be seen.
The best telescope for gathering light is a reflector telescope.
you can get the same up to 400mW. I personally have a 85mW which is way way better for star parties.
They are fit to see in the dark..and because they have large "eyes"
