You should have a basic binocular 10X or under. Whether or not you have a telescope. Especially with light pollution it helps to learn the sky which you need to use your telescope effectively. The larger 15X70 binoculars are impossible to hold steady and your arms will get tired quickly and be shaking. That makes it hard to see detail. They need to be held steady. Photo tripods with some adapters may be ok for things not too high, but are awkward to see above 45 degrees from the horizon. Neck cramps! At skyandtelescope.com look at the homemade wooden frame to hold binoculars under 'Do it Yourself'. Between my 5 inch Celestron telescope and my 7×50 inexpensive binoculars, I put more time on the scope, but I go out with the binoculars more frequently. I can see what I will be pointing the telescope at better in the binoculars than the finder. You need to find the objects before you can see them in a telescope. Do get a good but not-too-expensive binoculars first.

The first telescope is a toy, with the worst possible eyepieces, and the second scope is even cheaper. Decent telescopes capable of giving acceptable views of the moon, planets, and brighter galaxies and nebulae start at around $200, so either save your money for a real telescope or buy a pair of 7×50 binoculars. If you're just starting out, binoculars are an excellent choice. Since you're looking directly at the sky and seeing an erect image with a wide field of view, it's much easier to familiarize yourself with the sky than it would be with a telescope, and many observers use both.
Perhaps unfortunately, this is pretty much open cluster season. For globulars, look early in the evening for M15, between Enif (the nose of Pegasus) and Delphinus, south of that, M2 in Aquarius, and further south, M30 in Capricornus.
Also in Aquarius is Uranus. Easy to see in binoculars, not so easy to recognize – .
Cassiopeia and Auriga are both rich in open clusters. NGC457, the "ET Cluster" in Cass – - is a good one. M35, at the foot of Gemini, M36, M37, and M38 in Auriga, and M34 in Perseus should all be within reach.
They are great! My FIL has them, and we use them to spot planets, look at the moon, bird hunt….you get used to propping your arms on your chest to hold them still. So you don't need a tripod, unless you are going to use them for photography.

I have the 20×80 Megaview. I love it!!!! Especially for clusters and general viewing of space. I love looking at Pleiades. It always takes my breath away.
The first number is the magnification and the second is the diameter of the objective lens. Technically it means a 30×80 has 10 times more magnification than a 20×80. I don't think you can see the rings of Saturn. You need at least a 6-inch Newtonian.

I tend to focus on the craters showing the most dramatic visual depth, but much of the rest of the moon is out of focus. I think this is because the body is so large, that the difference in distance between a spot on the right or left and one in the center are greatly different as to as to distance…
