Which is the better binocular telescope, Oberwerk Binoculars 25×100 IF or the Celestron Skymaster 25×100?

Reginald Q. asked:
I am browsing the net for my options on which astronomical Oberwerk binoculars I can buy. I found a few giants and they're indeed large for me. So I am hoping you can help me decide. I also opt for the Bushnell Legend 191250 since I already have a reflector. Please, any advice would be much appreciated.

You are right, there is a lot of light pollution in the city. I would make it a point to go outside the city to do your star gazing. As far as telescopes, there are three types: Refractor, Newtonian reflector and Catadioptric (AOE). Catadioptrics is the best for smaller telescopes that will give you more power. Maksutov design is the most up-and-coming telescopes but the Schmidt-Cassigrain is the most common. It's mostly about the aperture (width of the opening lens or mirror). I would go with a minimum of 6" inch scope and would even recommend 8 inches. Takes pictures. Lots of pictures. Pictures are the soul of star gazing.
