Get a pair of 7×50’s.
See the link below for an explanation of what the numbers mean.
Well, there aren’t really astronomical binoculars. Most are just regular binoculars. Start out with some of those like a Bushnell. Most astronomy binoculars are too much more expensive than regular ones and it is just worth buying a cheap telescope.
any decent 7×50 or 10×50 binoculars will do. ask at a local camera or sporting goods store.
the main issue with cheap binoculars is that they aren’t durable. decent optics aren’t hard to come by, but manufacturing quality and durability cost money.
my first astronomical binoculars were a pair of bushnell 7×50s from the local camera store. they’re fine. i recently upgraded to a pair of zeiss victory 8×42s. they do really nice things to stars (like an apo telesscope), but you don’t want to know what they cost.
Well, the best ones for astronomy are probably a pair of 16×50s, Celestron do one for about US$100, but they are a bit heavy unless you have strong arms and some support to stop the shakes..
10×50s are popular but you will be limited to the Moon, star clusters and a few bright nebulae, comets, and wide star fields.
Having said this you are making the right decision to get a pair of binoculars first if you are a beginner
Do not expect to see to see any planet details like the rings of Saturn etc., as there is insufficient aperture on a binocular of this size.
If you like Astronomy and want to see more, then you can consider a telescope later, most amateurs usually start with a pair of 8×40 or 10×50s to get a useful working knowledge of the sky.
A word of advice, take someone with you who knows about binos, but make sure that the binos can focus to infinity, the lenses are at least made of BAK4 glass, that they have multicoated lenses (usually a dark blue sheen), and make sure that the eyepieces have a full circle of vision with no obstructions (you can check this by looking through them from the objective lens instead of the eye piece) as poor binos often encroach into the “optical cone” and affect the views badly..
Hope that helps
$80 will get a half decent pair, but the best are far more expensive than that, like a few thousan dollars.

(AFP) – A woman walks among the rubble in the tsunami-hit Chilean city of Pulluhue, three days after a huge 8.8-magnitude earthquake rocked the country. As aid pledges rolled in from around the world, with the European Union offering four million dollars, Japan three million and China one million, Chile shed its earlier reluctance and said it would now accept outside help.(AFP/Martin Bernetti)
I like to see area rugs placed at an angle under horseshoe configured sectionals. You can put it just under the front so that there isn't a gap that will get dirty right in front of the curved portion of the couch. You are placing the rug to anchor the couch to the room and protect the flooring underneath, having it under the couch doesn't serve either purpose. This saves you a little money as well in that you don't have to purchase such a large area rug…
